JW Winco adds glass fiber-reinforced connectors to product range

JW Winco now is offering high-performance clamp connectors made of glass-fiber reinforced polyamide for various applications. Withstanding temperatures up to 212 °F (100 °C), these connectors are suited for applications “where corrosion resistance is important, weight is limited or visual appearance is a significant factor,” the company says. The plastic connectors also feature appealingly smooth and matt surfaces with attractive coloring, it adds. The lightweight, yet quality, plastic parts administer a high-end solution and defined load capacities, it notes. The company lists the axial extraction force, radial torsional moment and rotation moment, depending on the tightening torque of the screw connections. Designed to fully encompass typical construction tubes, the connectors can create a nonpositive clamping connection. Fixed in place with socket cap screws and nuts of stainless steel or with a hand lever, the product is specially adapted to the plastic used. They are “particularly useful when the tube constructions need to be modified frequently or without tools,” the company says. By offering the plastic tube connectors in various configurations and dimensions, purchasers should not face any obstacles when implementing these into “even the most individual designs,” it notes. Additionally, if different tube diameters are required, special ribbed adapter bushings can also be used, it adds.

Endress+Hauser releases easy-to-operate radar sensors

Measurement and automation technology producers Endress+Hauser recently unveiled its new generation of Micropilot 80 GHz radar sensors: FMR60B, FMR62B, FMR63B, FMR66B and FMR67B. This updated line of sensors can provide solutions for a variety of industries and application, as they are “suited for challenges when measuring points that aren’t easily accessible, located in dusty areas and harsh environments with extreme process temperatures and process conditions,” the company says. Wizards are a feature of the sensors, and the wizards operate by various HMI formats, making the sensors easier to use, it notes. Digital communication protocols like HART, as well as Profibus and Ethernet/APL, are set to be included in the future. The smart Heartbeat Technology monitoring function and “exceptional measurement performance,” help to increase productivity levels, it says. Users are guided through the process of commissioning and operating the radar by the wizards, therefore, preventing any issues or errors. This also allows the devices to be commissioned successfully with limited experience or training. These devices can be controlled via the SmartBlue app from Endress+Hauser thanks to their Bluetooth interface. Additional features of the radar sensors are simplicity, safety for staff, plants and processes, as well as increased efficiency and exceptional measurement performance, the company says.

Energy-efficient lighting latest from Emerson Automation Solutions

Rosemont, Ill.-based Emerson Automation Solutions recently announced the Appleton Contender Industrial LED. The product is a low-profile enclosed and gasketed luminaire built for low-mounting heights in harsh industrial areas, or where fixture weight should be minimized. With an ever-increasing pressure to boost sustainability plans, plant managers have had to find ways to achieve environmental goals quickly, the company notes. The Appleton Contender Industrial LED “can be used to retrofit HID fixtures up to 175 Watts and help plant managers continuously optimize their operations and reduce energy consumption by as much as 65%,” it says. Additionally, the Appleton LED can be easily customized to fit “virtually any application” due to its multiple light output levels and Correlated Color Temperature options (CCT). It’s rugged and can withstand particularly harsh areas because of features such as the following: a proprietary epoxy powder coat finished, rugged IP68 watertight hub, high vibration and shock resistance, and a robust 6KV surge suppression circuit, the company says. It’s also Rated Type 3R, 4, 4X, IP66/67, Wet Locations, Marine Outside Type (Salt Water). The product can provide rated illumination through its full ambient operating temperature range of -40°F to +149°F. It directly mounts to a select offering of Crouse-Hinds Champ mounting hoods, which can save both time and labor costs when retrofitting a plant’s legacy HID lighting system, the company notes.

Cole-Parmer introduces new ultra-low temperatures freezers

Global manufacturer of lab equipment and suppliers Cole-Parmer introduced its new North Sciences/Traceable TSi and TEC2 Series Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) Freezers. The self-monitoring freezers provide total sample security and peace of mind 24/7, the company says. The freezers feature a built-in Traceable data logger, which is compatible with TraceableLIVE cloud-based monitoring services. TraceableLIVE provides both audible and visual alerts for out-of-range conditions, whether it be via Apple Watch, smartphone, tablet or PC. The company notes that it’s easy to connect to all data with the TraceableLIVE app. The ULT freezers are ideal for any industry where valuable samples need to be stored safely, as they can reach temperatures down to -86°C, or -122°F. Its hyper-insulated cabinets feature double-injected foam for both inner and outer doors and are combined with VIP thermal insulation technology, which reduces energy costs and ensure sample protection, it says. A large, 10-inch touch screen is used to easily control the temperature, allowing for a superior user experience, it adds. The freezers also have natural, hydrocarbon-based refrigerants to lower GWP (global warming potential), “with 100% redundancy provided by two complete and independent refrigeration systems,” the company notes. Available in an array of capacities, the two models will include one year of TraceableLIVE cloud monitoring, a subscription-based service.
