Latest line scan camera from Teledyne extends vision capability

Teledyne DALSA, a leader in the design, manufacture and deployment of digital imaging components for machine vision, unveiled a high performance 5GigE multispectral line scan camera. With its 5GigE interface, the camera has five times the bandwidth of the Linea GigE camera. The Linea2 4k Multispectral 5GigE simultaneously captures high resolution RGB plus near infrared (NIR) multispectral images to reveal invisible features that cannot be detected using visible lighting alone, the company says. This feature makes the camera ideal for identifying hard to discover defects, contaminants and security features in an array of applications, including automating optical inspection and web inspection, it notes. The camera is packed into a small form factor and powered by Teledyne’s high-performance quadlinear CMOS sensor, which has a 4,096 by 4 pixel resolution and 7 by 7 µm pixel size. The camera has four sensor rows for red, green, blue and NIR channels, and features spectrally independent color and NIR outputs for minimal crosstalk. The company says that, unlike prism-based cameras, the Linea2 cameras do not require high-cost optical lenses, significantly reducing the overall cost for the vision system.

Tosca’s new life cycle analysis tool reduces environmental footprint

Reusable packaging and performance pooling solutions producer Tosca announced a new lifecycle analysis (LCA) tool, which will help companies that transport bulk liquids. The LCA tool can assist in reducing a company’s environmental footprint by selecting the most sustainable type of liquid Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC), Tosca says, by using the Compass platform. The platform provides data on the cradle-to-grave impact of switching to the company’s foldable IBCs from other existing solutions. “We are delighted to introduce this new tool to companies transporting bulk liquids. It will empower them to make informed decisions about the environmental impact of their packaging choices,” said Karin Witton, global director of sustainability at Tosca, in a statement. “By using the LCA data, companies can continuously search for ways to further reduce the environmental footprint at every stage of the lifecycle.” The tool provides LCA data to show how Tosca’s reusable, foldable IBCs outperform competing load carriers in the area of environmental impact over short, intermediate and long distances, it says. “We are proud to offer bulk liquid solutions that not only have a smaller environmental footprint, but also provide superior performance and durability,” added Dan Lee, Tosca’s EMEA president. “Our LCA tool demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and our efforts to continuously improve the environmental impact of our products and solutions whilst also driving more efficient, higher performing supply chains.”

Gardco unveils Positector SST soluble salt tester

Distributors, producers and designers of physical and inspection instruments Paul N. Gardner Co. (Gardco) unveiled the Positector SST Soluble Salt Tester. The salt tester measures the concentration of soluble salts (salt contamination) on metal surfaces in accordance with ISO 8502-6, 8502-9. This gage also features an onscreen interface that guides users through the Bresle test method. With an automatic storage of a background measurement, the feature comes in handy when users are performing multiple tests, the company notes. It also displays test duration, sample temperature, conductivity and surface density, it says. The tester is resistant against solvent, acid, oil, water and dust, and features a shock-absorbing protective rubber holster with a belt clip, it adds. It comes with a two-year warranty on the gage body and probe. Gardco also notes that the tester is accurate, as it has its Long Form Certificate of Calibration, which shows traceability to NIST. The tester also features automatic temperature normalization and sample temperature reporting.

New lever series from Mencom fit for tough connectivity

The V-TYPE lever for rectangular connectors is the latest innovation from Mencom. The introduction comes as a response to the diverse and specialized performance requirements for securing the connections against sever vibration in harsh manufacturing environments, the company says. The V-TYPE lever features a closing mechanism that consists of two hinged elements that are pivoted on the housing, it adds. The movement allows the levers to move over the pins on the housing with an initial rotational movement, pushing down to engage the locking mechanism, the company says, resulting in a tight seal with a high degree of protection. The lever is made with stainless steel and features a secure latch to prevent unintentional release. Because of its lack of plastic, the V-TYPE has increased durability against impact, corrosion from oil, chemicals and high temperatures, it notes. The lever is well-suited for industrial applications that are constrained by space limitations and vibrations. The lever’s fixing flanges were engineered identical to those of traditional models, ensuring that new housings with the V-TYPE can replace the old version without issue. It’s available in both bulkhead and surface-mounted configurations, with both single and double levers available in various sizes.
