Peterbilt introduces innovative digital vision system-mirrors

To maximize driver visibility and safety, Peterbilt announced its new Digital Vision System-Mirrors (DVS-M) in the Models 579 and 567. An intuitive digital solution, the DVS-M uses one High Dynamic Range (HDR) camera integrated into the driver side mirror head and two HDR cameras integrated into the passenger side mirror head. The three cameras feature hydrophobic lenses that repel water, ice and dust, ensuring visibility during harsh conditions, the company says. Both mirrors are strategically placed on the A-Pillars to avoid disruption in windshield visibility and to allow continued use of standard glass, it adds. The monitors can be viewed in three layouts: traditional, panoramic or expanded, and also feature Vision Enhancements, including Automatic Trailer Tracking and Planning, Infrared Night Vision and Clear Inclement Weather Vision. “Peterbilt sets new standards for performance and safety with purposeful innovation,” said Jake Montero, Peterbilt assistant general manager, sales and marketing, in a statement. “Our Digital Vision System-Mirrors aligns with this commitment and reflects how we successfully leverage leading technology to enhance our products and elevate the overall driving experience for our customers.” These mirrors improve driver safety by reducing blind spots on the road, providing clear visibility during inclement weather and by reducing the distraction of headlight glare at night, Peterbilt notes.

Amcor announces its first-ever 1-liter stock bottle made from PCR

Amcor unveiled its latest innovation: a 1-liter PET bottle for carbonated soft drink (CSD) use that is made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. The first-of-its-kind stock option will support customers as they strive to meet sustainability commitments and requirements, the company says. Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) is adding this bottle to an expanding stock portfolio of responsible packaging made from recycled content. “By offering a wide selection of readily available options, ARP enables brands at every stage of growth to have the opportunity to select packaging that’s truly responsible,” said Krishna Valluripalli, ARP marketing director for beverage, in a statement. “Adding a 1-liter CSD stock portfolio in 100% PCR ensures that brands will benefit from increased speed to market while addressing the increased consumer demand and legislative requirements for post-consumer recycled content.” The company notes that this 1-liter stock option allows brands to address these regulations and the need for more responsible packaging in general. In 2018, Amcor pledged to make all packaging recycled, reusable or compostable by 2025. ARP has currently achieved 95% of this goal, it notes. Last year, the company used more than 375 million pounds of recycled material, which is a packaging industry-leading amount, it says.

Isuzu Commercial Truck creates craft beer truck with Summit Truck Body

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. announced the development of a new craft beer truck with Summit Truck Body. The truck was showcased during the 2024 Craft Brewers Conferences in Las Vegas back in April. Isuzu’s Ultimate Craft Beer Truck debuted in 2019 and has grown more popular over the years, it says. Shaun Skinner, president of Isuzu, agrees that this truck is a great delivery tool and marketing piece for small businesses. “This has been one of the most intriguing products we have been behind,” he said in a statement. “Most people associate work trucks with box trucks, sweepers and dumps, but the Ultimate Craft Beer Truck is synonymous with delivering fun. The customers that have bought them have enjoyed a lot of success and we constantly get questions about the truck and if there’s one available. It remains an exciting product.” Isuzu worked with known body builder in the Pacific Northwest, Summit Truck Body. “Collaborating with Isuzu on this project has been really exciting,” said Ted Croce, president of Summit, in a statement. “It has challenged us to think about how we engineer our insulated body for a new market, make it exciting and maximize the features and convenience for those serving from it.” The truck starts with a Class 5 diesel-powered Isuzu NRR. Its chassis provides plenty of payload for weekly deliveries and does not require a commercial driver’s license to operate. Isuzu says that, similar to a mullet hairstyle, the chassis is the business in the front and the body is the party in the back.

CCL debuts in mold label innovations

CCL Industries showed its latest In Mold Label (IML) innovations at the NPE2024 plastics show in Orlando. “IML is a rapidly growing decoration technology for packaging — not only in the United States, but globally,” said Dan Webb, head of IML plant of CCL in Collierville, Tenn., in a statement. “The label becomes an integral part of injection or blow molded plastic containers without the need for adhesives, typically using the same resin material as the container for easy recycling.” He noted that IML looks attractive on the sales shelves and stands out from the crowd of other products. “We will be showcasing examples of IML products to demonstrate the whole range of our capabilities — along with packaging examples of existing customers around the world to inspire packaging designers, technical packaging engineers and brand marketers,” Webb said. Last July, CCL acquired the privately owned Creaprint S.L., based in Alicante, Spain. Creaprint has more than 25 years of experience in IML. Creaprint recently invested into a new production facility where operations will relocate later this year. “Although we joined one of the world-leaders in labels and packaging, the IML footprint within the company remains relatively small,” said José Vincente Guillem, general manager of the CCL Spain IML plant, in a statement. “We see ourselves as an alternative and flexible premium provider for international and local brands that need a dedicated and reliable supplier that produces products using the latest technology.”
