Madison Chemical unveils new ENVIRO-CLEAN alkaline cleaner
Madison Chemical has introduced a new ENVIRO-CLEAN SY-X, an in-lace alkaline cleaner that contains a high percentage of available chlorine in a medium-duty, highly sequestered formulation for maximum performance cleaning in food, beverage and dairy plants. The proven formulation is low foaming, even at high concentration and high circulation velocities, the company says. It is free rinsing in hard or soft water. High detergent activity plus high available chlorine makes it an effective and convenient product, it adds. The cleaner was formulated to perform in challenging environments and is free of phosphates, NPE surfactants, PFAS and EDTA and is Prop 65 compliant, so it has minimal environmental impact. It is ideal for circulation in-place cleaning of equipment lines in milk plants, breweries and more. ENVIRO-CLEAN SY-X is a versatile cleaner typically used at 0.5-3% by volume in the recirculating tank, never permitting the available chlorine level to fall below 50 ppm. Surfaces cleaned with ENVIRO-CLEAN SY-X should be thoroughly rinsed with clear water prior to or following any acid rinse, the company notes. Conditions of use vary considerably because of the extent of and differences in soils and deposits, as well as the base materials from which they are removed. Madison Technical Sales Representatives are available to assist in determining dilution rates and contact times, the company shares. Prior to using ENVIRO-CLEAN SY-X, food products and packaging materials must be removed from the room or carefully protected. After use, all surfaces must be thoroughly rinsed with potable water. The cleaner is safe to use on ferrous and cuprous materials, but it attacks aluminum and zinc alloys.

FoodSafe Drains spotlights drainage solutions
Global Drain Technologies (GDT) division FoodSafe Drains showcased its latest innovations at this year’s International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), which took place Jan. 27-29 in Atlanta. Attendees were able to visit FoodSafe Drains’ booth to examine demonstrations of the company’s most advanced products, including the KeyForm drainage accessory and programs like the Drainage Evaluation Program (DEP). The KeyForm drainage accessory was engineered to elevate the standard for drain and floor coating integration across various industries, the company says. It is crafted from powder-coated, high-grade aluminum and securely snaps into place to protect the drain system during the concrete pouring process. The process produces a natural keyway, which facilitates a seamless interface with the floor coating solution as the concrete is poured during the drain installation process, reducing labor costs, minimizing rework potential and improving overall quality, the company notes. Experts were available to discuss the DEP, which delivers a structured, engineering assessment of drain conditions, performance and processes for food and beverage facilities and gives stakeholders a clear view of current risks and bottlenecks. The program is executed by Global Drain Technologies and in tandem with GDT Alliance Partners, when appropriate. DEP’s multi-step methodology includes screening, discovery, site visit, report development, evaluation plan and SOP creation, it says.

SOLUM also expanded its open collaboration ecosystem with global partners at the show as well. At NRF 2026, which took place Jan. 11-13 in New York, the exhibition served as a platform for SOLUM to demonstrate its complete evolution from a hardware-focused manufacturer to a data-driven retail tech platform company that organically connects data and hardware, the company says.
