Emerson enhances control system software, increases operational agility with DeltaV update

Industrial technology solutions provider Emerson has expanded its DeltaV Automation Platform with the DeltaV version 15 Feature Pack 3. This update impacts its distributed control system. New capabilities in the Feature Pack 3 help users improve the availability of Ethernet-based field device networks through PROFINET system redundancy, Emerson says. Enhancements improve users’ ability to track changes and produce validation reports for version control both internally and for regulating authorities, the company notes. New simulation enhancements continue to improve training options to upskill workforces, it adds. “DeltaV version 15 Feature Pack 3 delivers new functionality that helps modern process manufacturers meet current and future industry challenges,” said Claudio Fayad, vice president of technology for Emerson’s process systems and solutions business, in a statement. “The regular feature pack cadence between major DeltaV releases continues to help users more quickly realize the project savings and operational efficiencies that come with new features for their control system software.” This latest update is a continuation of the evolution toward a software-defined automation system integrating proven technologies to deliver increased flexibility for adapting to an increasingly complex operating environment, the company says. With this new release, users now have access to the infrastructure for the highly anticipated IQ controller, a fault-tolerant, modular, software-defined controller deployed in a server-based environment performant for even the most demanding process control operations, Emerson explains.

INDCO introduces new heavy-duty pail mixers

The M-2000 series is the latest innovation from INDCO. The turntable style tabletop mixer rotates a 1-5 gallon pail while mixing with a stationary paddle, which scrapes the side and bottom to provide a radial and axial action. The heavy-duty pail mixers, designed for high-viscosity materials, features a 0.5 horsepower (HP) single phase motor and a mixing angle that adjusts from 0-15 degrees. Electric models are available in open style, TEFC, explosion-proof and TENV variable speed with speed controller mounted on the motor. The electric models come with cord, switch and plug (except EP). Meanwhile, the air-operated version comes with a speed control valve and muffler. The zinc-plated carbon steel paddle is quickly removable for cleaning and inspection as well. All units are made in the United States with industry leading lead-times, the company notes, and ship fully assembled through a LTL carrier. These mixers are ideal for a variety of applications. Engineers at INDCO also are available to assist with process and mixing questions, the company says.

ORBIS releases new BulkPak HDMP

ORBIS revealed its new bulk container: the BulkPak HDMP 4845-338. The container reaches 33 inches in height, with 8 inches of bottom storage. The innovative design offers numerous benefits for streamlined shipping, safeguarding custom dunnage within the container and efficient storage, the company says. The container is specifically engineered to maximize space utilization in a 53-foot trailer, with the ability to accommodate up to 28 positions. The unique feature of the bottom storage area can be utilized to protect custom dunnage when collapsed, which offers shipping advantages. Utilizing the storage bottom allows the HDMP 4845-338 container to still collapse while securely holding the dunnage. The feature allows for 140 collapsed containers to fit in a standard 53-foot trailer, which is a substantial jump compared with the traditional 84 standard and non-collapsed HDMP 4845-34 containers that lack storage for dunnage, the company says. The new BulkPak integrates with all other 48-by-45 bulk containers, ORBIS adds, providing both versatility and compatibility. It offers the option of zero or two access doors for the long side measuring 48 inches and the based features an all-plastic perimeter stringer bottom, ensuring durability and longevity, it notes. ORBIS’ team of experienced designed engineers is dedicated to providing customers with the optimal dunnage solution tailored to specific requirements, it says.

A study commissioned by the Aluminum Association and Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) confirms that used beverage cans (UBCs) move from recycling bins to newly formed cans in less than 60 days on average in the United States. This research demonstrates the uniquely circular nature of aluminum beverage cans, which, when recycled, can almost always become a new can, CMI says. “Aluminum beverage cans exemplify a robust, domestic circular economy operating at scale,” Robert Budway, CMI president, said in a statement. “When aluminum beverage cans are recycled properly, they become a new can in less than two months on average. And nearly 97% of recycled aluminum beverage cans in the United States go on to become new cans, compared to 30-60% for glass and 34% for plastic bottles.”
