Texwrap showcases bundlers, sealer at PACK EXPO
ProMach’s brand Texwrap demonstrated its updated DX-130 Dual Roll Bundler and the Kayat SRX-CUF Single Roll Bundler at PACK EXPO earlier this month. The company describes that the newly updated DX-130 is “for workhorse productivity in a compact footprint.” The machine is just over 5 feet wide and 10 feet long, but Texwrap says that its small size does not limit its capabilities. The DX-130 can support bundles in a range from 4 inches by 6 inches by 7 inches, to 12 inches by 24 inches by 20 inches. It can be run up to 25 cycles a minute as well. The dual roll bundler runs an inline intermittent motion system ideal for wrapping trays of products. The wrapped trays are then conveyed through a tunnel for tight protection and unity for transport. It features an ergonomic film feed with film splice for safe film load and increased throughput, as well as a servo driven carriage for precision and reduced maintenance. The DX-130 also features a compact and durable construction. For operations looking for a single roll bundler, the Kayat SRX Series handles a variety of packaged food and beverage products, the company notes. It creates shrink bundled packages with bullseye closures using a bottom overlap seal technology for a strong seal and better product presentation, it says. The Kayat SRS Series has an ergonomic design, making it easy to operate and maintain, especially compared with competing systems. It is engineered with build-in predictive and preventive maintenance features that are controlled through the HMI, minimizing downtime. Additionally, Texwrap showcased the OSS-145 Continuous Motion Orbital Side Sealer. This is for applications requiring high-speed package wrapping, with a simple and easy-to-use design.
ROSS releases FDA-50 Fixed Tank Dual Shaft Mixer
Charles Ross & Son Co. (ROSS) unveiled its latest mixer: the ROSS FDA-50 Fixed Tank Dual Shaft Mixer. The mixer is a custom-designed agitated pressure reactor ideal for processes that require meticulous control over mixing, temperature and pressure in a compact and portable module, the company says. The stainless steel type 316 dished bottom vessel and removable dished cover can accommodate internal pressures up to 100 psi, stamped according to ASME Section VIII, Div. I. Equipped with two agitators, the mixer/reactor features a high speed disperser with two 6-inch sawtooth blades. One blade is fixed at the bottom, while the other is adjustable along the shaft. Driven by a 5 horsepower motor, the mixer creates a vortex into which dry ingredients can be delivered for fast wetting. The disperser is belt-driven with a removable drive motor, belt and guard. Meanwhile, the anchor feeds product toward the high speed disperser blades and “ensures that the batch contents are never stagnant in any one area,” the company says. All product wetted surfaces are polished to 320 grit finish, it adds. The FDA-50 also includes 2-inch flush tank discharge ball valve with a sanitary outlet connection and an assortment of sanitary inlet ports on the cover as well. It stands on four splayed stainless steel legs with foot pads and non-marking urethane casters.

Continental expands fleet tire monitoring system
Tire and automotive technology supplier Continental has announced the market launch of its two new ContiConnect Lite and Pro versions. These new versions of ContiConnect were unveiled at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany, which took place Sept. 17-22. “Changing a tire too early results in unnecessary wear and higher costs,” said Clarisa Doval, head of digital solutions at Continental, in a statement. “Changing it too late reduces safety and increases fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Our solution — the combination of the sensor tread depth measurement and our predictive models — enables fleets to further increase their efficiency and their sustainability.” The company says ContiConnect is a vital component of Continental’s “Lowest Overall Driving Costs” (LODC) consulting approach. Thus, the tire manufacturer is providing the transport industry with a powerful lever to withstand the growing cost pressure and further improve sustainability of fleets. These two new structured ContiConnect solutions aim to provide even better support for fleet customers. ContiConnect Lite is an entry-level solution based on a mobile app. Customers can gain an impression of the functionalities of the tire management system with this solution. Meanwhile, ContiConnect Pro is a complete solution for digital tire management and predictive services. It provides a comprehensive overview of the tire condition of the fleet, from warnings to data display.
Foaming cleaner latest from Madison Chemical
Madison Chemical has introduced RAF Foaming Cleaner, a moderately alkaline, chlorinated, general purpose foaming cleaner that performs well under all water conditions. It produces a thick, stable, wet foam when used in a foam generator as a one-package cleaner, necessary for cleaning without permitting dry-out or run-off. The company notes that it cleans all ferrous, stainless and cuprous metals, specifically vertical and overhead surfaces, as well as machinery that is otherwise difficult to clean. RAF Foaming Cleaner is not recommended for use on painted surfaces, but is ideal as a general cleaner in food and beverage processing areas or in other departments with steam or mechanical cleaning devices, the company says. It is not intended for food contact, it adds. The cleaner rinses easily and completely without streaking when used with potable water — it is ideal for cleaning all types of food and beverage processing equipment, primarily on surfaces with mixing or grinding equipment, tanks, rotary conveyors, filling and sealing systems, canning and bottling machinery, to list a few, the company notes. No residue or odor is noticeable after use when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions, it says. Madison Technical Sales Reps are available to assist with SOPs for concentrations and temperatures based on actual conditions as well.
