O-I Glass partners with FX Matt

Ohio-based glass producer O-I Glass Inc., recently announced a partnership with FX Matt Beverage Co. O-I will provide new glass packaging solutions for beverage brands. The partnership also will accelerate the speed to market for the Drinktainer. “FX Matt is the ideal co-packaging partner, bringing experience, know-how and speed to market for brands seeking to leverage the superior design and sensory benefits of Drinktainer for their beverages,” said Sarah Brennan, North America marketing and NPD director for O-I, in a statement. Dynatrol unveils Liquid Level Detector

Manufacturer of industrial measurement and control tools, Dynatrol, a branch of Automation Products, Inc., recently revealed the Dynatrol CL-10GH Liquid Level Detector. The detector can be used for high, mid or low-level point detection within the beverage industry. Applications can include fructose, corn syrup or sugar liquor, the company says. The detector has no moving parts, floats, diaphragms, or packing glands that might deteriorate. It’s designed for more stability, by utilizing the Dynatrol EC-501A(G) control unit to eliminate the variances of direct input power, the company says. The CL-10GH does not require any field adjustments and is simple to install in almost any position in vessels or pipes. With a sensitive transmission of vibration energy, the detector provides rugged construction. Additionally, corrosion-resistant coatings are available if needed. Some specifications of the CL-10GH Liquid Level Detector include: explosion proof, pressure rating of 3000 PSIG and a temperature rating of 300 degrees Fahrenheit, with high temperature construction available.

ROSS releases mixing system for ultra-high viscosity materials

Charles Ross & Son Co. (ROSS) produced a line of Double Planetary Mixers. The mixers come in a variety of configurations and sizes, ranging from ½ pint to 750 gallons. They are dependable solutions for mixing thick, sticky or putty-like materials, according to the company. The Sanitary Double Planetary Mixer Model DPM-4S and Sanitary Discharge System Model DS-4S are both fully customized and engineered for efficient processing of medical-grade silicone formulations in portable workstations. Featuring two patented high viscosity “HV” stirrer blades, the heavy-duty 4-gallon Double Planetary Mixer rotates the blades on their own axes while orbiting the mix vessel on a common axis in a slicing motion, pushing product forward and downward. It’s ideal for ultra-high viscosity materials. The mixer is designed for vacuum operation and is equipped with an electromechanical lift to raise and lower the hood, as well as a 50-psig heating and cooling jacket on the mix can. An accompanying Discharge System maximizes product yield while also simplifying clean-up, the company says. It’s made up of a platen that is lowered hydraulically into a mix vessel, and as it pushes down on the batch, the product is forced out through a valve with minimal product left behind. ROSS says that the change-can design allows for semi-continuous operation, significantly increasing production.

INDCO introduces new variable speed air dispersers

Industrial mixer manufacturer INDCO introduced their model HSD06 pneumatic, variable speed benchtop disperser. The disperser features a 1-gallon capacity, delivering maximum flexibility in a variety of industrial settings, with a stainless steel shaft. The shaft is drilled and tapped on end for bolding on a two-inch-diameter design A dispersion blade, the company says. All wetted parts on the disperser are stainless steel for chemical resistance. The ½ HP disperser can operate from 500 to 5000 RPM with a needle valve as speed control. Maximum agitation is achieved when supplied with 100 PSI at 71 CFM. It can be raised or lowered by hand, with a support clamp to securely lock it in place. The INDCO HSD06’s air motor weighs less than the electric model, so it is inherently safe in combustible environments. The high shear disperser is ideal for laboratory, pilot plant or production operations settings, and can incorporate a variety of materials including pigments, food ingredients, hand creams and more, the company says. The company notes that, due to its flexibility and easy operation, the HSD06 is one of the more popular dispersers. It’s manufactured in the New Albany facility and is available with short lead times.
